What Is All-on-X?
All-on-X is a full-arch dental implant procedure that replaces an entire upper or lower set of teeth — or both — using just 4 to 6 titanium implants anchored directly into the jawbone. Those implants support a custom-fabricated prosthetic arch that is fixed permanently in place. You don't remove it. You don't soak it overnight. You eat with it, smile with it, and forget it's there.
The "X" in All-on-X refers to the variable number of implants used — typically 4 to 6 — placed at strategic angles to maximize contact with available bone. This angulated placement is what allows most patients to skip bone grafting entirely, even when significant bone loss has already occurred.
How Is All-on-X Different from Dentures?
Traditional dentures sit on top of the gums and are held in place by suction or adhesive. They work — until they don't. Over time, the jawbone underneath begins to shrink because it's no longer stimulated by tooth roots. As bone volume decreases, the fit changes. Dentures slip. Eating becomes difficult. Patients start avoiding certain foods. The fit gets adjusted, then adjusted again.
All-on-X implants work differently at the biological level. The titanium posts integrate directly with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration — the bone grows around and fuses to the implant. This stimulation keeps the bone healthy and maintains facial structure over decades. The result feels like natural teeth because, from a structural standpoint, it behaves like natural teeth.
The All-on-X Process: What to Expect
Every case at Noland Implants follows a structured process designed around your specific anatomy, not a generic protocol:
- Free Consultation — Dr. Noland reviews your history, discusses your goals, and outlines your options clearly. No sales team. No pressure.
- 3D CBCT Imaging — A cone beam CT scan maps your bone volume, nerve locations, sinus anatomy, and implant sites in precise 3D. This is the foundation of safe, accurate placement.
- Custom Treatment Plan — Implant positions, angles, and prosthetic design are planned digitally before surgery begins. Every decision is intentional.
- Surgery Day — Implants are placed and same-day temporary teeth are loaded in a single visit. Most patients go home with a full smile the same day.
- Healing Phase (4–6 months) — The implants integrate with the bone while you wear your temporaries. Regular check-ins confirm everything is progressing correctly.
- Final Restoration — Once integration is confirmed, your permanent teeth — custom-designed and fabricated in our in-house lab — are delivered and seated.
Who Is a Candidate for All-on-X?
Almost everyone with missing, failing, or severely damaged teeth is a candidate. The most common barriers patients worry about — bone loss, age, systemic health conditions — are far less limiting than most people assume.
- Significant bone loss? Pterygoid and zygomatic implant techniques allow us to work with the bone you have, often without grafting.
- Told you're "not a candidate"? Get a second opinion. Many patients who were told no elsewhere are successfully treated here.
- Medical conditions like diabetes? Controlled systemic conditions are generally not disqualifying. A thorough pre-surgical review determines the right approach.
The only way to know for certain is a proper consultation with 3D imaging. We offer that at no cost.

The In-House Lab Advantage
Most implant practices outsource their restorations to commercial dental labs. That introduces delays, removes direct quality control, and means the person fabricating your teeth has never seen your face. At Noland Implants, we have a master ceramist on staff — working in our own lab, on-site.
Every prosthetic is designed specifically for your facial structure: tooth length, width, midline alignment, lip support, and how your smile looks when you're actually talking — not just in a static dental mold. That level of customization isn't possible with outsourced central fabrication.
